PRIVACY POLICY

Opportunity Scholarships of Nebraska (OSN) is committed to ensuring that your privacy is protected. Any identifying information we ask you to provide on this website will be used in accordance with this privacy policy.

This policy applies to data collected on our website only. Our website may contain links to other sites that are not owned or controlled by OSN. Be aware when you leave our website and read the privacy statements pertaining to other sites you visit.

Collection of Information
We will not collect personal information from you when you visit our website unless you provide the information to us voluntarily and knowingly. When you make a website inquiry, we ask for your name and contact information. When you make a donation or tax credit application online, we collect your name, contact, and identifying information. When you make a financial contribution online, we collect standard credit card data as set forth below in the section titled “Credit Card Protection.”

We will use your personal information to interact with you.  If you fill out a form to request information from us, we will use that information to provide you the information you requested.  If you provide us information when you inquire about receiving a scholarship, we will use that information to evaluate eligibility for, and, where appropriate, award such a scholarship.  We may use your information to follow up with you later.  We may, with your consent, place donors and families who receive scholarships in contact with each other.  Otherwise, we will not share information with third parties except as set forth in this Agreement, or with your consent.  We do not sell your information to third parties.

We may disclose information we have about you if we have a valid legal reason to do so, such as a court order, a subpoena, or a legitimate law enforcement request.  We may also disclose information about you if we have reason to believe you are engaged in fraudulent or unlawful activity.

Cookies
Our site uses industry standard website analytics technologies, such as cookies and trackers.  We use the information they provide to evaluate and improve the performance of the website, including how users reached our site.  We do not track your internet activity otherwise, and our analytics reports do not identify individual users.  (Some information unique to you, such as your IP address or the characteristics of the device you used to visit the website, may be available to us.)  If and when our site offers login credentials to users, cookies or other technologies will assist you in remaining logged in between visits to the site.

If you provided your information to us through a social media site or application (such as Facebook or Instagram), or reached our site through an online advertisement, you may be subject to the privacy policy of that site or service as well.  OSN does not control the privacy policies or practices of these third parties.

If you reached our site through an electronic or online advertisement (for example, by clicking on a link or scanning a QR code), we may receive non-identifying information about you and other visitors from the service you used.  We may use information to evaluate the effectiveness of our advertising efforts, but will not sell it to third parties.

Security
In order to prevent unauthorized access or disclosure, we will use suitable physical, technical, and administrative safeguards for the information we collect online. Email is not a secure medium of communication. For this reason, we request that you do not send private or sensitive information to us by email. The information you enter on our website is transmitted securely via industry standard encryption. Pages utilizing this technology have URLs that start with HTTPS instead of HTTP and display a “padlock” or similar symbol in most Web browsers.

We only collect, store and process the personal information needed to provide the services we offer, and solicit funds for and administer our scholarship program.

Credit Card Protection
We use a third-party service provider to process credit cards.  That vendor will conform to industry standards related to credit cards.  Donor information provided to that vendor will only be used as necessary to process the donation. All processing of payments and related information, including by third party service providers, is protected by industry standard safeguards.

Tax Information
If you make a contribution to OSN and seek a tax credit with our assistance, we will share such information with the Nebraska Department of Revenue as is necessary to support your request for a tax credit.  (If you simply seek a tax deduction, rather than a tax credit, this paragraph does not apply.)

Children Under 13
No part of this web site is directed to children under 13 years of age.  No minor may apply for a scholarship without approval of a parent or legal guardian.  If you become aware that, contrary to this policy, we have inadvertently received information about a child under 13 years of age without the consent of a parent or guardian, you may contact us at info@nebraskaopportunity.org and we will delete the child’s information.

Data Removal Policy
This web site is directed principally to citizens of Nebraska.  The laws of other states or countries may grant you certain rights to review, adjust, or demand the deletion of data you have previously provided us.  Whether or not the law of other states or countries applies, OSN will discontinue contacting any individual upon that individual’s written request. Data will only be stored as long as needed to fulfill legitimate business purposes or for a period of time specifically required or allowed by applicable regulations or laws.  Requests related to the data we have received from you can be made using the contact information below.
